Train Schedule / change versus transfer

Hello! I am using website www.b-europe.com to plan a one-way train trip to Brussels and am confused by the replies to my search.. What is the difference when one trip says "one transfer" and another trip says "one change". I assumed transfer and change meant the same thing - get off train one and get onto train two to continue your trip. Thanks!

They do mean the same thing. I don't know why the Belgian Rail site uses both apparently at random. I am British and would normally say "change". I see "transfer" as American English for the same meaning.

From what I can see, b-europe uses 'changes' as the plural of 'transfer'. I suppose the translater was half asleep when going through the list of words to be translated.

Thanks, Math. I feel better about my reading of the schedules.
