Hello can you pay the Driver for a tram ride and if so do you need to have the correct change for the fare? - thanks

Hi there,

Well it's paying the conductor at the back of the trams, not the driver. In the odd case that the conductor booth is not manned tourists have a problem as driver has a chipcard check-in device at the door but never cash AFIK.

The conductor can change, EUR 20 maximum would be nice and EUR 50 about the absolute maximum denomination possible.

All the best,

Trams 5, 16 & 24 don't have a conductor, you only have the option of paying the driver. Tram 26 from your hotel normally does have a conductor though.

Like I said in your previous post though you would be advised to get day cards. Single hour tickets are €2,80 each. A 48 hour ticket is €12 so if you are using the tram more than 4 times in 48 hours then you might as well get one.
