My wife and I snagged a flight to Europe using our Frequent Flyer miles on Delta. Here is our itenary as of now, any thoughts and feedback are welcome the only part that is for sure right now is the entry and exit points. We will probably get a German Rail Pass plus extention to Prague
We are in our late 30's, we love food, culture, beer, history, if that helps with suggestions, Thanks as always, such a great forum.
We add this to the Belgian forum to see if we should go this route instead of heading so far east then backtracking, never been to Belgium save a train trip from Paris to Cologne.
10/29 - 11/11 this fall
10/30 - arrive at Franfurt airport in the morning, take the train from the airport to Cochem on the Mosel. We will be in Cochem for two nights
11/1 - take the train to Cologne, realizing that this is a holiday and they will be on Holiday schedules. We will have three nights in Cologne, on Saturday we will take the train up to the Rhur Region for a Football game (hopefully Dortmund - fixtures come out in July???), Sunday 11/3 is our first wedding Anniversary, probably a spa day / nice dinner out - Suggestions?)
11/4 - Train to Nuremburg, one day there.
11/5- DB Bus to Prague (2-3 nights there, the final night we are planning on taking an overnight train to Amsterdam)
11/8 - arriving in morning to Amsterdam for three nights (maybe a day trip to Dutch countryside, with base in Amsterdam.
Any thoughts on this, alternate routes cities, etc. would be helpful.
We have been to Germany before (one of our favorite countries so not much there will change, mainly should we do Prague on this trip or save it for an Easten European trip? We have to leave out of Amsterdam, btw.
Any other places? We were in Paris last year, Berlin, never been to the Mosel, so that will probably make sense for us to start our trip.
