This tour runs only on a Tuesday: brussels-city-tours.be/en/tours/battle_of_th… (3 September is a Wednesday) but this one to Bastogne and Luxembourg is available on Weds brussels-city-tours.be/en/tours/luxembourg and this one also: www.city-discovery.com/brussels/tour.php…

Therefore if you want more time at Bastogne, you may have to rent a car and do it on your own.

If you hire a car you travel to Bastogne via the E411 autoroute from Bruxelles switching to the N4 (dual-carriageway) south of Namur. The Mardasson Memorial and revamped War Museum are the other side of Bastogne to the N4 junction but are well signed. Depending on how long it takes you to exit the Bruxelles urban area on to the E411, you are looking at a drive time somewhat less than 2 hours each way.

It is also possible to travel from Bruxelles to Libramont by train and on from there to Bastogne by direct bus 162b; through tickets are available and cost € 42.20 return each. The Mardasson is a little way out of Bastogne but if you get the bus to the Bastogne NORD stop (after travelling through the town centre) it is certainly walkable.

There are trains at 08:33 and 09:33 from Bruxelles Midi (destination Luxembourg) and return buses from Bastogne Nord at 15:22 and 16:22 and the journey takes almost exactly 3 hours each way (plus your walking time to/from the Mardasson). The trains also call at Bruxelles Central (-:37), Nord (-:42), Schumann (-:50) and Luxembourg (-:54) stations and one of these may be more convenient for you as well as slightly reducing the journey time.
