Good restaurant, not too formal.

We are staying in Brussels at Easter. I am lookin to make a reservatiop in a restaurant on Easter saturday. wW are staying close to The Royal Palace. Looking for a good restaurant but not somewhere where a jacket is essential. Anyone any suggestions?

1) Are you quite sure you are staying close to the Royal Palace? I know of no hotels that I would describe as "close" to the palace! So not entirely sure where you want to be.

3) However a good restaurant just around the corner from the palace, and which happens to be open for both lunch and dinner (you didn't specify) is the Museumbrasserie at the Musée des Beaux Arts on Place Royale, see http://www.museumfood.be/flashOK.html. Entrance is from the Place Royale, next to the museum's bookshop, and has some lovely stained glass.

Incidentally I've never yet met a Brussels restaurant that required jacket and tie - perhaps the big hotels and the casino do, I wouldn't know.

About 5' minutes walking distance, direction Palace of Justice, you'll find the "Sablon" and its many restaurants. This area is a bit snobish, but have a look, and in one of the surrounding streets you'll find small restaurants as well, which might be more reasonable. I like the "Troisième Acte" which is French/Italian, it's an old postal relay and budget is about 30€ pp for a full meal. Further down you'll find the area of the "Flea Market", go and have a look on Sunday, especially by dry weather people like to gather there and shops are open even on Sunday.

And don't forget : Belgians adore eating, as such you'll find restaurants everywhere. Even café's and brasseries will serve meals !

Have a nice trip !
