Charleroi is about 50 km to Brussels, so this will cost you a small fortune by taxi (taxis in Belgium are expensive).

The easiest way is to take one of the shuttles. They are very frequent. In the past there used to be a shuttle that left half an hour after the departure of each Ryanair flight. The cost was 10 euro one way. Can't find it on the Ryanair site.

There is actually a warning on Ryanair's site about taxi drivers:

Notice to Passengers using Bus Services at Gare du Midi

Please beware of taxi drivers located at Gare du Midi, advising of a breakdown or delay in the bus service to Brussels South Charleroi Airport and inviting passengers to use their taxi services instead.

The bus service to/from Charleroi Airport is operated by one of the largest bus operators in Belgium with extensive back-up services enabling it to maintain a reliable and punctual schedule.

The activities of this small number of taxi operators is designed to gain revenue by the provision of false information. Such conduct is illegal- please beware!

And of course in case the shuttles are not working and if you're not arriving to late into the night, you can take a bus to Charleroi-Sud station then the train to Brussels. Depending where you're staying, you might end up within walk of your hotel since the train stops in Brussels' 3 main stations (while the shuttle stops only at Bruxelles-Midi). But that's if you're not arriving too late... and if they're not striking *lol*.

Price is slightly cheaper than the shuttle.

There is a shuttle bus from outside the airport exit (and to the right) to Gard du Midi. I dont think its run by Ryanair but it leaves after the Ryanair flights arrive. If they are delayed the bus waits. You cant really miss the bus 95% of the people geting off the Ryanair flight are looking for the bus into Brussels. Just follow just about anyone else. I cant remember the price but it was a few euros and you paid getting on the bus. It took about 40mins. The only thing is to try and find your bearings when you get off the bus in Brussels. It stops somewhere round the back of the train station and if you are getting it back to the airport for your return you have to get back to the same place. Its a little difficult to find as the service has nothing to do with the train station so there are no signs for it. The bus back to the airport leaves (I think) 2.5 hrs before Ryanair flights. I think there were details of the times on the website for Charleroi airport. You should find it through google easy enough

Yes, you can get a bus from the airport. Things have changed recently: price is now â¬10:50 and you purchase your ticket inside the airport terminal when you're coming from the airport. The bus will leave you at the Gare de Midi. On the way back: the bus departs for the airport two and a half hours before your departure time, you buy a ticket from the driver, the bus departs from the same place as it arrives. Taxi fare is a standard whopping â¬80, which is sometimes more than the price you paid to get to Brussels in the first place! But if you can divide between four people, it works out OK.

If you look on the Charleroi website the bus service to the centre of Brussels is heavily advertised. Costs 10.50 euros each as per person and leaves on the hour every hour from both the traing station and the airport.
