Brussels on bicycle?

My sister and I will be in Brussels for one day at the end of February. We will be arriving via Eurostar around 10:00 and departing around 16:00. We don't have much on the agenda, other than see Grand Place, eat some, drink some (beer for her, coffee for me)... We were thinking of renting bicycles, and just cruising around (we realize it will be cold, but we're adventurous). Can anyone recommend a place to rent bicycles from, particularly at this time of year?

Thank you in advance.

For what you want to do, it would be easier on foot. Your Eurostar ticket covers you on any local train (e.g. those going to the airport) from Bruxelles-Midi to Bruxelles-central, which is only about 5 mins walk from the Grand' Place; and you can do everything you want to do in that area.

Otherwise, your best bet would be to contact Cyclo: www.cyclo.org/en/dienstverlening/verhuur (see under "city bikes"). They have a bike rental point at Midi, but it may be necessary to reserve as there are only limited numbers, and you'll have to check with them whether they will accept credit card as payment: the yellow Villo city bikes that are stationed at various places around the city can only be used by people with a Belgian bank card or Mobib (public transport) card (http://www.brussels.be/artdet.cfm/4359).

We are planning a cycling trip from Brussels to Bruge, Antwerp, and ?? during the first three weeks of Sept. To bring mountain bikes from Canada will cost $300 (return) with Lufthansa as baggage, so it seems like an option to buy a used mountain bike in Brussels and sell it back when we leave. Any suggestions whether any bike shops might co-operate. Rental costs seem even worse. Another option would be to bring a bike over and sell it when we leave, but if so where.

A second-hand bike market takes place on Sunday mornings on Boulevard du Midi near Gare du Midi (between there and Porte du Hal), and on Fri, Sat and Sun mornings at the Anderlecht Abattoirs.

These and bike shops ("vélocistes") that sell, and may buy back from you, second-hand bikes are listed on: gracq.be/AVELO/011Equipement-004VeloDOccasion

There are 2 rides in Brussels:
