Brussels Nord to Brussels Aeroport - Ticket advice

Hi, I'm based just near Brussels Nord for a couple of days and have business at the airport on both days, is it simplest to buy a return ticket to the airport and back each day, or is there a multiple journey option I can take? Are there time considerations i.e. peak and off peak?

If it's of any use I currently have a SNIB 10 journey ticket which is unused at this stage, but I suspect this isn't valid on national rail services to the airport. If not, that's fine, I can use it in central Brussels during my stay.

Many thanks.

If you mean a STIB 10-journey ticket (Brussels public transport), then you are correct, you can't use it to go to the airport. You can go by metro/tram bus to Luxembourg stop (where the airport bus 12 starts) or go to Schuman metro station and change on to the airport bus there - cost €4 (airport bus ticket) for the whole journey if you buy the ticket in advance.

Otherwise you can catch the train from Brussels Nord to the airport - cost €7.60 per single journey.

Peak/off peak makes no difference on bus or train. There is no multiple journey option that is worthwhile for just 4 trips. A return journey is all cases costs double the price of single ticket.

Super, Colin that's very useful. I just need to buy a ticket each way then. Thanks very much for taking the time!

<A return journey in all cases costs double the price of single ticket.>

Except for a train journey at the weekend: a "weekend" ticket is cheaper than two singles: €13.20 from Brussels Nord to the Airport and back on Saturday or Sunday (2 x €7.80 = €15.60 on weekdays).

NB: Single ticket to the Airport is €7.80, not €7.60 - sorry for my mistake.

for the money savers: Bus 'De lijn' 272 rides from Brussels North Station to the National Airport (Zaventem) each hour and only costs between 1,5 and 3 euro, depending what card you use, but takes 50 minutes.

And thanks once more, just did the journey today for 15:60 Euro. Very easy and efficient journey with very good, simple to use automated ticket machines. If I had more time I'd maybe take the bus but the train's worth an extra half hour in bed. I was very impressed by the trains too, very roomy and quiet. Thanks for your help.
