spending a day in Bruges

Hi. I am at antwerp and I am planning to visit Bruges in one of the weekend. I will come there on morning and return back to antwerp at evening. Will I Get a direct train from antwerp to Bruges? if yes, how early I can take train and how late i can leave bruges?

I am planning to see the city by walking. Is this possible? What are the important places and things I should see there? Can I buy the map of city? where?

I see you have asked a number of questions about train travel in Belgium. Try the site below for the Belgian Railways for the journeys you are looking for.

If you are traveling at the weekend you can buy special reduced weekend tickets.

As to visiting Bruges, walking is the best way to see the city as it is small and compact. The centre is only a 15 - 20 minute stroll from the station. Below is a link to good downloads, including a map and a brochure that has a number of very good self guided walking tours:

You can also buy these at the In & Uit Tourist office which is situated in the Concertgebouw (Concert Hall) a huge red building on 'T Zand. This is about a 10 minute walk from the station.
