Bruge on Christmas Day...

My husband and I are booked for 3 nights in Bruges, 24/12 - 27/12. Im now a bit concerned that being there on Christmas day might be an issue. I would assume most things would be closed, save for some of the restaurants. Would it be better to change our trip to arrive after Christmas (boxing day)?

Also, if we do end up staying with our original reservations, can anyone recommend a restaurant for Christmas eve and/or Christmas day dinner? The restaurants that are open seem to all be serving a fixed menu, just looking for suggestions...

Thanks all!

Sunday 25/12

Everything closed!

Monday 26/12

* Municipal Museums: closed, except: Belfry, Town Hall, Liberty of Bruges and Church of Our Lady

* Diamond Museum: 10h30 - 17h30

* Chocolate Museum, Belgian Fries Museum, Lamps Museum: 10h00 - 17h00

* Brewery Halve Maan: open till 16h00, last tour at 15h00

* Dalí museum: 10h00 - 18h00

* Picasso / Miro expo: 10h00 - 17h00

Tuesday 27/12 is a regular day for museums, all shops are open as it is a shopping day (incl. free buses into the city center)

Restaurants: horecabrugge.be/uploads/artikels/eindejaarre…

Ho.Re.Ca (HOtels REstaurants CAfes) Bruges provides a list with restaurants that are open around X-mas and NYE.

Search in the section BRUGGE STAD, the others are outside of Bruges.

o = open

x = closed

middag = afternoon

avond =evening

I believe they will update each week, the latest update dates from yesterday.

Booking is often necessary and with a fixed menu.

You can always hang out on the X-mas market, there are many food stalls.

Kind regards,

Hi there, we're visiting Bruges for two nights for the fourth time over Christmas, not been the last two years but had some lovely meals at http://www.tguldenvlies.be/engels/ who are open bar Christmas Day, they do a special set menu but also a la carte and a standard simple set menu too on Christmas Eve, if they have any spaces left. Caroline and Gerrt from the Gulden vlies recommended www.lechefetmoi.be/index.cfm… for Christmas Day which is a set menu that we've booked in for, from past experience very few restaurants are open Christmas Day, we did eat at http://www.devlaamschepot.be/ one year which was good hearty bistro style food.

Previous stays we've found lots to look at and quite a lot of shops(too many tempting chocolates plus an amazing tea and teapot shop) have been open, horse and carriage rides and a lovely atmosphere throughout.
