Just for fun: BBC to shoot historic dramaseries in Bruges

Hello,

Just thought I'd share some interesting news. Yesterday a press release was sent out to announce that the BBC will come to Bruges to shoot a new TV-series.

The team will be in Bruges between 3 September 2012 and 25 March 2013 to shoot episodes for this dramaseries, based on the books by Philippa Gregory. Her most famous book is probably The Other Boleyn Girl was turned into a high profile movie in 2008. For this TV-series the makers will use the Cousin's War Trilogy: http://www.philippagregory.com/work/10-the-cousin%E2%80%99s-war-series/

You can search for yourself on the internet what it's all about, but in short it's deals with rivalry between the House of York and the House of Lancaster in 15th century England.

There are 125 days during which cast and crew will film this series. 12 of those will take place outdoor, in the streets of Bruges. This means that parts of Bruges will be transformed to represent a 15th century city. This will no doubt have an impact on tourists and locals who move around the city. It's also an excellent opportunity to catch a glimpse of actors, extras, crew, the medieval vibe with horses ....and so on.

The locals will be informed in time whenever outdoor shooting will take place.

For those of you who can read Dutch, here's a news article: http://www.nieuwsblad.be/article/detail.aspx?articleid=DMF20120717_140

I found this for our English speaking followers: http://www.leakynews.com/bbc-plans-new-series-about-the-english-throne/

East Yorks - we are actually in Wakefield - where the nursery rhyme The Grand Old Duke of York commemorates the 'altercation' at Sandal Castle. It wasnt til I actually moved here to marry a Yorkshireman that I FINALLY sussed which house had which colour rose (we didnt really go into that at school in my native Scotland lol) But I am proud to display my white rose on 1st August - Yorkshire Day :)

And Sabrina - I bet a lot of Brits would fail the test when it comes to history.
