Beer Lovers Mystery Tour

I need some advise. My husband and I will be in Bruges for a day as part of a short mini cruise. He loves Belgium Beer so I really want to take him on a bit of a magical mystery tour. I know a few days would be better but its not an option at the moment.

Where is a must to take him, shops, bars etc...

Hi,

Are you looking for an actual guided walking tour, with a beer or mystery theme, or just looking for beer related places in Bruges to visit?

Kind regards,

Sabrina

Hi,

You'll find things to see and do in my Trip Lists:

tripadvisor.co.uk/members-golists/sabrina_ide

St. Anne quartier with the Lace Center, windmills, folklore museum, Potteriemuseum and several churches is a less visited area. Most tourists stay within the tourist center where you find the absolute must sees and highlights, like the Market (Belfry) and Burg (Townhall, Holy Blood basilica) square, the boats, Church of Our Lady, St. Salvatorscathedral, Beguinage, Lake of Love, Memling & Groeninge museum.

Main shopping streets are Geldmuntstraat / Noordzandstraat and Steenstraat / Zuidzandstraat. This is where you find the "normal" shops: clothing, shoes, lingerie....and so on.

Tourist shops can mostly be found in Breidelstraat, Wollestraat and Katelijnestraat.

Langestraat has more alternative shops.

Places to consider as your partner is a beer fanatic:

* brewery De Halve Maan: http://www.halvemaan.be/

* restaurant Cambrinus (400 beers, and lots of dishes prepared with beer): http://www.cambrinus.eu/default.htm

* cafe Vlissinghe (oldest pub in town, since 1515): cafevlissinghe.be/www.cafevlissinghe.be/home…

* cafe 't Brugs Beertje (popular tourist pub, over 300 beers): http://www.brugsbeertje.be/

* 2BE (beer wall and lots of beers and local products): http://www.2-be.biz/index.php

Hope this information will help you plan your day. If you have additional questions, feel free to contact me at any time.

Best regards,

Sabrina

Comprehensive information from Sabrina. I'd also add:

* The Bottle Shop - Wollestraat - If you are looking for glasses/gifts etc. If you are looking to buy many beers to bring home though it is worth a trip to a local supermarket as they are between half and a third of the price.

* Staminee De Garre (my personal favourite bar :-) ) http://www.degarre.be/

Cheers,

Rob

There is a shop on Katelijnestraat.directley opposite the Ibis Hotel which has a great range of beers and the glasses to enjoy them out of if needed !

Not sure of the name , maybe someone local ( Sabrina ? ) may know !

Plus the Carrefour on the same street , about 50 yards down from the Ibis carries a extensive range of beers including the Trappist beers , and a lot cheaper than the "Touristy " beer shops !

Hope this helps ?

Definately get your souvenir Belgian beer from a supermarket. Tourist shops sell it at up to three times the price!
