This afternoon it has been decided that there will be a national 24 hour train strike on Wednesday 3 October 2012.
There will be no trains between Tuesday 2 October 22h00 and Wednesday 3 October 22h00.
Keep this in mind while traveling around Belgium at the beginning of next week. In some cases alternative means of transportation are possible:
- Bruges to London: Eurolines bus
- Bruges to Amsterdam: Eurolines bus
Make your booking in advance, as there is no Eurolines office in Bruges.
Standard taxi fares:
- Bruges to Brussels-National-Airport (aka Zaventem), or the other way around: 200 euro
- Bruges to Brussels-South-Charleroi-Airport (aka Charleroi), or the other way around: 250 euro
Strikes mean big business for taxi drivers, so I don't know if they respect standard fares on such a day.
