London to Bruges

Is it possible to travel by train from London directly to Bruges without having to go to Brussels first?

Hi

In short - no.

Eurostar is the only service that runs under the channel and that runs to Brussels, where you have to change on to a local train service to Bruges.

Eurostar also runs to Lille, where again you can transfer on to local trains to get to Bruges., but Brussels has the more direct transfers.

You can however get a direct coach to Bruges.

Eurolines have a daily service leaving London at 08.00, the journey takes 5h30. The return journey leaves Bruges at 15.20. Return fares range from £39 to £75.

It's so simple to change trains at Brussels to get to Brugge and it takes only an hour, if you get a 'any Belgian city' Eurostar it also included in the price.

When you say it only takes an hour do you mean to get from Brussels to Brugge or the whole trip? We are leaving London, staying 3 nights in Brugge then two nights in Brussels. I guess I misunderstood when I was first planning the itinerary that we could go directly from London to Brugge.

By train, London to Brussels is about 2 hours and Brussels to Brugge is about 1 hour.
