Hi,

I see this is your first ever post. Welcome to TA and the Bruges forum!

I am not sure if you can travel as a foot passenger on these ferries. As a foot passenger perhaps a better option for you, assuming you are travelling from London would be Eurostar?

Regards,

Rob

I am sure, and no you can't travel to Oostende as a foot passenger. The only ferry company that now accepts foot passengers is P&O, and the only Belgian port they go to is Zeebrugge - departing from Hull. From a Channel port (Dover), you could only take their service to Calais, and it is not especially convenient to travel by train from there to Brugge, which takes between 3h21 and 4h and the most direct route requires changing in both Lille and Kortrijk.

You can check times and prices - also for Eurostar from London St. Pancras to Brugge, via Bruxelles-Midi - using www.b-europe.com/Travel

If Eurostar is too expensive and you don't have access to a car for the Ramsgate-Oostende or Dover-Dunkirk services (see http://www.directferries.co.uk/routes.htm), the only alternative is coach, with Eurolines (= National Express in the UK) or Megabus.

Hi

The only ferry firm that runs from the channel ports that takes foot passengers is P&O on their Dover - Calais route.

To get from Calais to Bruges by public transport is possible but is not easy.

1 - There are no buses that run that route.

2 - Trains there are a number of routes, but all need 2 transfers and take around 3 hours. It is also a distance from Calais port to either of the Calais train stations.

You can look at times, connections etc on this site:

http://www.b-europe.com/Travel

I agree with post 1 If coming from UK look at the Eurostar - departures from Ashford, Ebbsfleet or St Pancras.
