Brussels to Bruges Day Trip

Hi,

I am in Brussels this weekend (Easter weekend 19-21) and plan on making a day trip to Bruges on the Sunday. What is the best/cheapest way to travel by train? Also, will anything be open or does everything shut down for Easter?

Thanks

Richard

Sunday is the same as any other Sunday, i.e. shops closed, except tourist shops, and museums etc. open.

As Monday is a public holiday, normal shops - and offices, banks etc. - will remain closed then. Museums, on the other hand, are generally closed on Mondays anyway: but some, like the Groeninge, are exceptionally OPEN on Easter Monday: visitbruges.be/location/musea/groeningemuseu… - the private museums (diamond, chocolate, frites, lamps..) will also be open, as is Historium. Tourist activities such as canal boats will also be operating (on both Sunday and Monday).

@Belgium B - It's not so much the cheapest way as the ONLY feasible way for a day trip. It would in fact be cheaper to buy a De Lijn day pass (€5) and take a series of De Lijn buses from Brussels to Brugge via Aalst and Ghent: but as Ghent-Brugge alone takes almost 2 hrs by bus, as opposed to less than 30 mins by train, it isn't exactly practical for a day trip from Brussels.

Btw it is not appropriate to use TA to solicit contributions to your blog - as you have done in every post you have made so far. You will find the rules on https:/…200613717
