My 2 daughters (16 and 15) and I are going to Bruges for 5 nights in August. We will be driving and will have our bikes too. We arrive in Calais then drive to Zeebrugge where we are based for the 5 nights.

Most of the time we'll be heading into Bruges, but want a trip to neighbouring Holland as well. Any suggestions?

If you just want to go across the border into the Netherlands, you could cycle to the seaside resort of Cadzand Bad, which is just next to Knokke; or drive there and cycle on the path on top of the sea-dike, from which you can see that the polders are below sea-level.

Otherwise, you need to decide what you want to visit in the Netherlands, e.g. Zeeland, Utrecht or as far as Amsterdam. Maybe ask in the forum for the Netherlands, specifying that you would be driving or cycling from Zeebrugge.

Zeebrugge is an industrial port rather than a seaside resort, but the Coast Tram runs all the way up and down the coast from Knokke (railway station) to De Panne so you can easily visit anywhere else along the coast (see route map on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coast_Tram_(Belgium)). There will be a sand sculpture festival in Oostende in August (http://www.sandsculpture.be/).
