eurostar to bruge for long weekend

I am looking at Bruges as a long weekend break. We have never been on Eurostar so am hoping to combine it with our trip. I have no idea where to stay or in what area so any advice will be welcome

Thank you Faye Cheshire

Hi Faye

Bruges is very compact and easy to walk around. Any hotel in the centre will be pretty much convenient for everything.

Have a look at the Eurostar City Breaks web page, this can give you an idea of the costs and also combine the hotel and train booking. Which hotel will pretty much come down to your budget.

You might be able to do it cheaper booking the train and other hotels separately, if you wanted to go down that route..

Let us know if you have any more questions.

We have just returned from Bruges via Euro star.

Brussels station is very easy with travel boards and platforms easily displayed. Trains from Brussels run approx every 30 mins or so. Be mindful that it may not show Bruges on the display as this is not the terminal station. The staff are very friendly and you can ask for help. The easiest was to check the timetables on the walls, pretty straight forward.

The train to Bruges takes 1 hr. They are usually double decker trains, very clean and comfortable.

We caught a taxi from the staion into the town centre and is was about 8 Euros

Unless you've got loads of luggage you'd probably find walking from the station to your hotel a nice introduction to the city, the old town is really compact and the walk from the station can include some great sights.

Good train service from Brussels to Brugge i might suggest a hotel close to the station it would be cheaper also a regular bus service into Brugge every few minutes and takes 5 mins,be aware in the main square the cafes are expensive try the side streets better value,, enjoy,,,, just come back from a day trip
