City surfing in Lisbon and Orporto

Hi Guys,

So I'm planning a cheeky 9 day dash down to the Portuguese coast primarily for a surf. However I think it would be a bit of a bugger to travel all the way to this beautiful country and not set aside some time to at least experience Lisbon and Porto. I was wondering if anyone had any idea on whether there is good accessibility to surf beaches in both cities so that I can surf mornings and arvo's, and explore during the day/evenings. I'm not the pickiest surfer in the world, so I'm not expecting world class beaches on the door step of these cities, but some recommendation on where to stay and what neighbourhoods to look out for good access to a surfable beach and also public transport for city sites/nightlife would be fantastic.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Praia do Guincho near Lisbon. Take the train from Cais do Sodré to Cascais and the take Scotturb's bus number 405 or 415 to Guincho (45 mins total) Don't know about Oporto.

In the Porto area, try Espinho beach. located a 30 minute train ride from Porto on the suburban network.

The train station is a two minute walk from the beach, which is huge.

The train line to cascais, you will see many beaches, Caracavelos it's one that concentrates a lot of surfers. (the train station has the same name: carcavelos)

Guincho in my opimion (and i'm not a surfer) it's not for bigginers.

On the other side of the river a long the Costa da Caparica, there are olso beaches to surf.
