Golf and something for the girls

Hi all,

My husband, sister-in-law and I are going to Portugal for a week in late April. My husband wants to get a round or two of golf in, but my sis-in-law and I aren't much for the links.

We don't have our itinerary nailed down yet but are looking at Lisbon, day trips some places in the Algarve.

I'd love any recommendations for places that have golf opportunities but also convenient shopping or historical sites. We will have a car if needed.

Thanks!

You could make Lisbon your base and find golf in the area. Lisbon is great for shopping and you would also have enough historical sites at hand and make day trips, for instance to Sintra, Evora, Obidos:

Hi,

I regularly visit Vilamoura in the Algarve to play golf.

Viliamoura is a purpose made resort with a large marina.

The courses I tend to play (15 handicap) are The Oceanico courses in Vilamoura and my order of preference are The Old Course, Millenium, Victoria, Pinhal and then Laguna. Dependant on your handicap the order of difficulty would be Victoria, Old Course, Milleniun, Laguna, Pinhal. There is also the Golf Academy with driving range and a par 3 course. All of these courses are within a 5 minute drive of each other. There is also a 27 hole complex about another 5 minute drive away called Vila Sol.

There are a number of shops around the marina, but my wife tends to go shopping at the Algarve Shopping at Guia (about 20min drive from Vilamoura), also Forum Shopping at Faro (about 20min drive from Vilamoura) and Quinta Shopping at Quinta do Lago (about 10min drive from Vilamoura).

The following links will give you more information.

Hope this helps
