Portugal with young family

Hi we want to travel to portugal with three young kids 1.5yrs and two 5 yr olds. We'd like to be within walking distance of beach, good restaurants etc and are open to either villa, self catering or hotel. We've gone to Pierto del Carmon in Lanzarote for the past two years and lived it but just want to try somewhere different this yr. any tips or experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

And you'll be flying to where? Faro, Lisboa or Porto?

We would be travelling July or August. As for destination that's what we're looking into. Where is child centered and nice walks? Al Garve maybe? I think albefiera is very hilly so we'll prob give that a miss

Have a look at the Algarve (fly to Faro), at Alvor It's a popular family destination.

You could also find some Youtube videos to get a feeling for the place.

Albufeira is indeed very hilly and although there are buses and taxis, neither are particularly keen about taking wet and sandy children back up the hills to the various apartments. Some of those are within walking distance of the beach but a majority are not, some are well over a mile away.

Alvor would possibly suit as it is a much smaller place and there are several modern resorts right by or very close to the beach and in flat areas. The old part of Alvor is on a little hill, but nothing that would tax anyone even fairly unfit.
