1. Re: Nearest Resort to Faro airport??

The nearest resorts are at Vale do Lobo and Qunita do Lago. They are top end stuff.

Vialmoura is about 20 - 25 minutes away. Mostly golf but neighbouring Quarteira has a big sandy beach.

The Albufeira area with its many resorts are about 30 minutes drive and would be many people's choice.

Unless you are very brave or very poor, you will need to book a transfer from the airport if travelling independently. From the airport to Albufeira will cost about 30 Euros. Go the search box above and put in airport transfer and you will see hundreds of previous questions and answers about this.

There are no buses from the airport to anywhere but Faro itself, from where trains and buses run to most of the Algarve resorts. Although cheap, you could be looking at 2 hours for the journey to Albufeira depending on connections.

For public transport options please consult my webpage www.algarvebus.info/003.htm

Hope that helps.
