Penha Longa or C S Atlantic

Looking to book a long weekend, or 4/5 days to celebrate our silver wedding next April with a couple of friends. Anyone stayed at Penha Longa hotel or C S Atlantic Hotel. We will have a look at both hotels next week, but wondered if anyone had any first hand views on either.

Isn't the Penha Longa hotel only in Sintra or have they opened a new hotel on the Algarve? Just googled it as I'd never heard of the place before.

you are correct MCG Penha Longa is a golf resort north of Lisbon close to Sintra, I would also be careful with CS hotels although they are currently trading and taking bookings they are still in receivership

Many thanks for that info. My husband is a golf fanatic who obviously thought he could get a few rounds of golf in!! Second honeymoon indeed!! I will inform him that we will go to the Maldives which is where I wanted to go in the first place. As for C S Atlantic will leave well alone.

why not try Le Merridein Pennina for your long weekend , isnt the Maldives too far for 4 or 5 days?

A good suggestion by Sunndays, Think you were kidding about the Maldives for long weekend!! Pennina is near Alvor, a lovely fishing harbour with some nice restaurants, could be a bit quiet in April though. There are a few courses to choose from at Pennina if you did not want to get into a full 18 hole championship course. The resort course is a good 9 hole course. Nice outdoor pool for the ladies when the gents are playing golf. Evenings in Alvor for you all? Another idea for a short weekend and if you want to include golf and relaxation is Vilamoura. Although man made and modern it's nearer the airport, golf nearby and some of the hotels have spa facilities, plenty of restaurants around the marina for the evenings.

I wanted to go to the Maldives for two weeks. My husband suggested we have 2 or 3 long weekends instead. However I didn't realise he intended to get a few rounds of golf in!! So as well as being a golf widow at home, he obviously thought he could do the same on weekend breaks. So I will book the Maldives instead!
