We have directions for the direct route (toll roads), but is there a scenic route and how much longer will it be than the direct route? We have all day to get there and just might want to stop and smell the roses :))

Start on the highway and turn off at Grandola, it will take you a little more than 1 hour.
There you pick up the N120 which runs through Santiago do Cacém to Odemira. It will take you 1h10.
From there you take the winding N266 to Monchique, it will take you a little more than 1 hr.
You will not smell the roses but eucalyptus trees :)
I would recommend a slightly revised route.
Go through Grandola on the IP1 and continue on until you reach Mimosa.
On leaving Mimosa, turn right in the direction of Alfragida on the N262, and continue on to Cercal.
From Cercal take a right in the direction of São Luis and Odemira, (this stretch is a bit curvy and bumpy but worth it.)
The as above.
