Albufeira - Lisbon.

Does any one know the time it takes/distance from Albufeira to Lisbon? What's the best way to get there - taxi/train/plane? I assume there it plenty to see and do when we get there? Should I consider hiring a car and driving there?

Thanks y'all.

There are buses and trains. You want to do a day trip only? There are organized tours.

Lisbon is about 180 miles away - an easy 2.5 hr journey on empty but costly motorway. Tolls 40€ return.

Fast train in just under 3 hours or coaches. Train 45€ return, coach a bit cheaper.

Rooms from about 30€ in a pension type place or holiday inn and others from about 60€

Loads to do and see but you would need to say what tickles you for better answer.

Thanks y'all.

I was thinking about a day trip to Lisbon from Albufeira when we stay there in October. Seems a shame to go so far and not bother with Lisbon. Train seems a good bet assuming it is straigh forward? Not looking for anthing special when we get there - just sightseeing.

Thanks again.

train station an 8 euro taxi fare from albufeira. can book tickets and seats online in english or buy at the station as the trains are never full. Very easy journey with a choice of 3 or 4 stops in Lisbon depending on where you need to be.

If travelling on a Friday, Sunday or before a holiday do buy the train ticket ahead since trains do sell out those days

The only sensible train up for a day out is the 0728 from Albufeira, gets to Lisbon Entrecampos at 0957. Daily.

Then a ten minute metro ride into the city centre and the main sights.

Last train back leaves Lisbon Entrecampos daily at 1851.

Coaches at 0655 (weekdays only) then 0845 and 0910 daily.

Coming back 1715, 1830 and 1930.

The coach terminal in Lisbon is at Sete Rios, again about a 10 minute metro ride from the city centre.

All these times are of course subject to change and should be checked nearer the time. The train ride to Lisbon is rather pleasant for the most part.
