restaurant and bar recommendations

A group of around 20 of us are spending the weekend in Albufeira on 6 to 8 July. We want to book a restaurant for both the Friday and Saturday nights. Ideally we want something traditional piri piri chicken or sea food. Also looking for a bit of advice on any decent bars to have a drink in(nothing too cheesy)?

many thanks

Try restaurant casa da fonte on the beach tunnel steps, lovely traditional courtyard under a large lemon tree, food all cooked on the outside grill. two good bars opposite, steps bar and o tunnel. For 20 you will need to pre book casa da fonte.

Where are you staying and how upmarket or downmarket (authentic portuguese) do you want to be?

We're staying at Soldoiro,

Praia da Oura. I guess we're looking at £15 for main course

If your staying at Soldoiro have a look at Invictus its not far from where you are staying. Go to top of cardiac hill to mini roundabout , turn right and walk down road approx 200mtrs. Its a newly built restaurant on the left and the food is excellent. If you want a good piri piri I suggest you go to O Manel Dos Frangos, they specialise in piri piri its at the top of the strip near Montechoro Hotel, once you have passed 60's & Sinatras Bars you will see it.

They look like good options. How about decent bars? With the group going don't want it too cheesy.

Wild & Co at bottom of strip is in your age range (but a bit OTT for drink prices) as are. Matts bar, La Bamba, Renos, Mambo. Also Rockline which is near Oura Praia hotel, if you do go to Invictus restaurant just keep walking down the hill to the 5 palms roundabout and its on the corner. There are loads of bars just look round to see whats what. Advise you not to be tempted to go to any strip clubs, but if you do use cash only, never use a credit/debit card. Enjoy!!

You wont find an e mail for Casa da Fonte, have a look at their details here on trip advisor using the search bar above, you will find a telephone number. If not I can get you one.

Failing that if you do fancy going there and you are in the old town prior to your chosen day to eat there just pop up one lunch time /evening and pre book, Also gives you a chance to suss it out for your party.

Wild & Co restaurant is lovely - the staff are great and the food is lovely for a decent price. My husand had steak which was 15 euro ish. Lovely view of the sunset too.

El Rancho would be right up your street mate,, top food, good prices and a great location, however if it is busy DO NOT go next door to OCEANO as it is total rubbish,, they took 2 1/2 hrs to serve 14 of us and when they did they got the steaks all wrong and then had the cheek to argue and demand payment for their mistake, NOT a good establishment. but El Rancho is tops,, btw its on the sea front at fishermans beach.

Cheers ;-)) Simster
