According to Brisa Sol website their apartments available are only a maximum of 4 persons, so maybe that would be a mish mash of problems considering the size of your party, but its centrally situated, just 10 mins walk via escalator to old town fishermans beach and close to all the main supermarkets and shops www.hotelbrisasol.com/accommodation.aspx

Whereas Eden resort have a choice of apartments up to 2 bedroomed and villas up to 3 bedroomed which maybe more suitable for your party.

Maybe Cubsur can comment as he knows the area of Eden Resort as its further out of the main resort. Or Hopefully another forum member can comment who has stayed in either accommodations.

I haven't been into Eden Resort but live nearby. It is slightly more isolated than say Brisa Sol. it's at the top of a hill about 3/4 of a mile from the old town centre and nearly a mile from the beach. There is a reasonably good supermarket and a café restaurant at the bottom of the hill around 300 yards from the entrance. There is no convenient public bus into or back from town and the last bit of the walk back is up a steep hill. You will either therefore be walking to and from town (there is a safe footpath well away from the road) or relying on taxis. I don't know if they run their own bus into town but it would only be in the daytime anyway. There is no point in driving as the town is closed to cars and the car park is barely more than half way to the beach unless you drive all round town to the other one.

Eden Resort is a 'closed' resort in that it is behind fence and out of town and probably for that reason has a range of things to do. There are plenty of recent reviews here on Trip Advisor at tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_Review-g189112-d1776… some of which I have to say do not look very complimentary.

Hotels listed by area, with size, price guiide and Traveller rating at www.albufeiraguide.yolasite.com/

You can have a look at them from STREETVIEW on that site ... or in photos from TA or any booking site.

Travel Republic is showing the cheapest 2-bedroom (sleep 6) at £250 for a week in June ... Cantinho do Mar, a small hotel (14 apartments) not far from Brisa Sol.

It might be more cost efficient and definitely more comfortable for a large group like yours to hire a villa, have a look at Villa Plus and search for "car not required" for the best located ones.

Dear Molly,

We stayed at Eden for the 2nd time self catering. We prefer cooking ourselves or get out for dinner, (the kitchens are great with oven, microwave, stove and dishwasher) not to be stuck at the resort for every meal...

We rented a big downstairs apartment but they have also villas, outdoor pools, indoor pool and children playground. May be in your case one or two villas would be more convenient. they run a bus 4x per day to the old town, there is a small supermarket next to the reception and another bigger one ali super just out of the resort.

Good luck,

Gerarda
