The big parks ...Zoomarine, Crazy World Zoo, Aqualand, Aquashow andf Slide and Splash are all out of town and usually have their own buses that pick you up. Don`t know if you`ve been to the main playpark ... behind stadium in Parque Albufeira ... a taxi is best unless you have the giro bus pre-paid card (3 euro from terminal) which tops up with 80 cent fares as you all pay the full fare. If taking the bus ... the parque entrance is opposite the entrance to bus station. Check if you`ll be around for the Fisherman`s festival (early Sept) as the Old Town square is thick with kids (street) entertainment.

I will be around for Fishermans Festival as I believe it's the first weekend in September.

Do you have any info on it at all? Is it Saturday and Sunday? Is it in the evening or an all day event?

Thanks in advance

Sometimes co-incides with the festival of Beato Vicente (apparently Sep 3, this year) which has a big procession from the main church past the statue and along the harbour esplanade to Orada. Fireworks, etc ...

and this year it co-incides with the Festa do Folclore ... lots of music, etc ... the puppet man is usually in the square .. mime artists .. clowns .. you name it. Unfortunately, with everything in Albufeira, you have to wait `til a couple of days beforehand .. then there`ll be a big notice at the `parque` ( where the buses exit the Camara area onto the main road).

Enjoyed it one year with my grown up kids from the balcony of the Central Station ... but that has recently been closed.

I missed the most obvious activity .... the Parque Aventura in Santa Eulalia ... which has supervised rope and swing stuff for little monkeys ... paintball for big ones ... etc.

They have the same fascination for colours as the buses .... Iniciacao (training) ...Amarelo (yellow) is first level ... Violeta (purple) is the medium ... Azul (blue) is the next up ... Vermelho (advanced) ... 10 euro (4-8), 13 euro (8-12), 16 euro (over 12). Paintball starts at 18 euro .. open all year ... until Sep 15 from 1000am.. also has a picnic area. www.lusoaventura.com/

There is a new supermarket across the road at the entrance to Camping Albufeira which seems to have a lot of Spar products in stock. Otherwise, if you don't have a car, there is an Ali Super(market) about 7 or 8 minutes walk down the road on the way to the old town opposite the Health Centre.

If you have a car, LIDL and ALDI are about 3/4 of a mile away and the larger Continente Modelo Shopping centre is about a mile away near McDonalds in town. All are open seven days a week until at least 830pm, LIDL and Continente are open untuil 10pm in summer.

These are all marked on this map - www.algarvebus.info/images/roundabouts.jpg

Also there is the Algarve Shopping Mall about 3 miles away near Guia which has a Continente hypermarket and about 50 other shops all trying for your money. Needs a car or taxi to get there from Albufeira Camping as there are only three or four buses a day.
