Luna Stella Maris Hotel

Hi.

any one have any info regarding this Stella Maris Hotel which has been taken over by the Luna group bases in Praia de Falesia. Is there restaurants/pubs and a supermaket within walking distance . Is there any shopping centres nearby and and what is the nearest town to it.

Is it far from Villamoura and Quarteria. and any bus service to these areas.

Thanks in advance, have not been to this area before

Tripadvisor reviews seem positive. Suppose it depends what you want from a holiday as where its situated is a quiet area. Maybe Cubsur can guide you on transport with his great knowledge.

BTW you might be best posting on Olhos D Agua forum, maybe folks ahve more info

The nearest bus stop is about quarter of a mile away in Acoteais near the shops there. Buses are few and far between. See www.algarvebus.info/023.htm

There is no practicable way to get to Vilamoura or Quarteira by bus as the Albufeira - Vilamoura - Quarteira - Faro route does not pass anywhere nearby. Connections between the two bus routes are far from good. It's actually quicker and easier to catch the bus going the other way to Rocha Baixinha and walk the mile and a half or so along the almost flat cliff path and beach into Vilamoura marina.

There is no road bridge over the river there, so a taxi has to go a long way around and would cost 10 - 12 euros at least.

There is a small shop nearby and half dozen small restaurants, bars and cafés within a short walk. There is a lot more of both at Acoteias near the Pine Cliffs resort. The hotel is marked in Google Maps (www.maps.google.co.uk) so take a look. Rua da Falesia leads to that area.

The nearest anything to a shopping centre is the Continente / Modelo shopping centre in Albufeira, the bus fom Falesia etc mentioned above stops outside. It' a small local centre with a large supermarket and a dozen or so shops in the below ground level. There are a lot of other shops also in that area, which is a few minutes walk from Albufeira old town.

The nearest mall (Algarve Shopping) is 10 miles or away, say 15 euros in a taxi or €6,50 each way using two buses often with long waits in between.

Stella Maris is about 6 miles from Albufeira, so a taxi there for night out will be at least 9 Euros. It cost me 11 Euros last time I can back from there on a Sunday afternoon.

I hope that helps.

You will. The beach is superb and you are bound to find a bar or café to your liking.
