You will not find any trains because there are none.
There is also a bus operated by EVA bus but that requires a transfer in Faro
www.eva-bus.com for details.
Renting a Portuguese car to drop off in Spain will incur very large additional charges as the rental company has to send someone to repatriate it. It's as if every province of Canada was a separate country.
You might consider flying to Madrid and then taking a train to Seville. That might be more cost effective in the long run.Edited: 13 April 2012, 13:37
Renting a car in Lisbon needs not to be much more expensive than in Sevilla. Try a reliable internet rent a car site such as carhire3000.com and you'll get the best possible quote. Driving from Lisbon to Sevilla non stop should take you little more than 4 hours via Beja.
For some reason Auto Europe, whose prices are excellent, wanted double the money if we picked the car up in Lisbon. I will try carhire 3000.
