We stayed for one week in a gorgeous apartment in the Marques de Pombal area. (Two bedroom, lr/dr, kitchen , two br, outdoor area) The apartment and the area were dead quiet at night. We stayed in Athens two years ago and the street noise was REALLY annoying. So, we specifically looked for a quiet neighborhood. The Lisbon transportation system is so good that it is easy to take the metro or a bus where ever one wants to go. With that said, we are walkers and we did not mind the 6? block walk from the Marques de Pombal roundabout to our apartment. We are wayyyy too cheap to take a taxi. We wanted an outdoor space and markets close by.

You could try this apartment in Alcântara with a cute little terrace. It's not right in the centre but there are loads of trams and buses along the main drag nearby, and the neighbourhood includes a trendy restaurant and nightlife district as well as local shops and cafés.

Also it's near the trains for Cascais and the Estoril coast, if you want to head for beaches by public transport.

We stayed in the Alfama last month for 3 nights and really enjoyed it. Plenty

of places to eat and drink. Loads of transport options and if you don't mind a few steep hills you can walk to many of city's sights. We heard very little street noise at night but we were on the third floor and in a quiet street. Hope you have a wonderful stay in Lisbon.
