2 days in Lisbon Portugal

Hi Guys

I plan to visit Lisbon from Madrid by train in late October for 2 days.

Can someone please tell me -

Which area is the city centre and all the things to see.

i plan to stay in FAMILY MACEDO ,Rua Palmira. Is this hotel far from Gare Do Oriente, the train station.

The things to see in 2 days

Is the above mentioned hotel close to the city centre.

Will truly and surely appreciate all your advises.

Tanks a lot

Hi, to answer your questions in order:

1. The city centre for tourists is usually deemed to be Baixa (the flat downtown area by Rossio) and also Chiado & Bairro Alto (on the west hill) and Alfama and the Castle district (on the east hill).

2. Yes it is quite far, but there is the metro.

3. You could explore the areas I mentioned above. The castle is one of the major attractions. There are also a lot of historical sights in Belem, to the west of the city centre. Some people like the modern leisure & shopping area of Parque das Nacoes, by Oriente station.

4. Looking on the map it is just north of the central area (Baixa) so you may not want to walk but you have the metro nearby (Google Maps locates you between Anjos and Intendente metro stations). Looking on Google Streetview there is also a tram line that crosses Rua Palmira at Rua Maria Andrade that heads into the centre along the main boulevard parallel to Rua Palmira.

You can exit at Oriente or Santa Apolónia train stations. From Oriente you can go by metro, red line to Alameda where you have to change to green line and exit at Anjos. From Santa Apolónia take the metro, blue line to Baixa/Chiado where you have to change to green line and exit at Anjos.
