Ferry To Cacilhas?

Hi all,

We would like to do a trip on one of the ferries from Lisbon. Is Cacilhas worth a visit for the day?

If not where would be an alternative?

Thank you for any assistance.

Cacilhas and that side of the river is a nice enough place for a different look at things. Perhaps not for a whole day though. There are some good views of Lisbon from across the water and from the ferry.

Not Cacilhas, but the Cristo-Rei does, for me the best views to Lisboa are there. After the ferry take bus #101 from TST. You then can walk back via old Cacilhas or the elevator and along the bank (industrial ruins along this bank)

If you are heading that way, you may also want to consider making a stop at either one of the 2 restaurants at the very end of the pier (Atira-te ao Rio & Ponto Final). They may be a tiny bit on the pricey side, but the views are fantastic...!

Hi SerpaJ,

Which pier is that?

On which side?

As you leave the ferry, bear to your right (heading in the direction of the big bridge) and soon you will be on an old fishing pier that runs right alongside the river. The pier (and its supporting warehouses to its left) are now long abandoned, giving the area a tiny bit of a creepy feeling (thus ensuring that only those in-the know continue onwards). At the very end of this pier (10 minutes walking), you will find the Atira-te ao Rio and Ponto Final, two smallish but quite hip eating and drinking places (both of them commented on Tripadvisor.co.uk).

I think that you can then go from the restaurantes to the Cristo Rei monument mentioned on one of the postings above.

Cheers!

Hi SerpalJ,

I should have mentioned that we love to try new restaurants so any recommendations are always welcome. Thanks.
