We wanted to visit somewhere different on our second trip to Europe. Ideally somewhere that was still reasonably sunny in November. Portugal fit the fill and it was also an inexpensive place to visit - Portuguese work mates made the recommendation.
We flew direct to Lisbon from Sydney via Dubai via Emirates which worked out well and was a quick trip by taxi from the airport. The staff at the Britania Hotel were friendly and our room nice and large. The safe was a bit odd, reception needed to bring you up the lock and key but it worked well.
Thanks to all the comments on tripadvisor and our guidebooks we had a good view of the city. It was a nice walk to the harbour and lots of bicycles in the square which made for some good pictures. We took the 48 hour hop on hop off bus for an easy look at the sites and spent a really nice few hours at the aquarium.
We didn't quite see everything we planned as we needed to leave a day early to avoid a train strike however enjoyed the time we did spend here. It was simple and easy to get to the train station and the train to Porto was comfortable.
