Lisboa card - help please!

We are two seniors and will be in Lisbon for one day from a cruise in October and our ship will dock at Alcantara from 8am to 5pm. Our plan is to get the no.15 tram to the Belem district and visit the Belem Tower (which we may not actually go into), Monument of the Discoveries, Jeronimos Monastery, Pasteis de Belem (yum!) and the National Coach Museum. If there is time, we would also like to make our way to Praca Commercio in the hope of being able to get the no.28 tram for a scenic ride before returning to the ship.

We have three questions and would appreciate any help you can give us please -

1) Will we have sufficient time to do all that we hope as listed above?

2) Bearing in mind that we are seniors and I believe therefore entitled to some admission discount, would it be worth us purchasing a Lisboa card and, if so, where can we get one?

3) Exactly where in Praca Commercio can we get a no.28 tram please?

We want to make the most of our short visit to Lisbon (and our first visit to Portugal too), so any help, tips, advice, suggestions, etc, will be much appreciated.

1. Re: Lisboa card - help please!

1 - possibly not. Belem itself will keep you busy.

2 - this webpage will tell you what you need to know. neoturismo.com/en/…

Since the cash fare aboard the trams is an eye-watering €2.85 it would be useful to buy one on line to keep costs down from moment 1. The card costs €18.15

Otherwise a day pass for the city trams and buses is €6,50 then add cash admissions.

3) take the 15 tram back from Belem to Praça do Comercio. The 28 does not actually stop in the Praça but rather on a cross street a minute or so walk away called Rua do Conceição. Make sure you take one heading to Martim Moniz for the complete scenic ride. Martim Moniz is almost back in the city centre. The are plenty of trams and buses to allow you to complete the circle to get back for the number 15 to return to the dock. If you have time for this!

Take a look at the city tram and bus map at carris.pt/fotos/editor2/mapa_rede_diurna_sit… for the details.

Thank you Cubsur. How much discount do we get as seniors and how will we know if its applicable at all places of interest that I have mentioned? I'm not quite sure of this or how to calculate any savings to see if buying a Lisboa card is worthwhile for us.

I've noted your directions for the trams. Thank you very much for that, particularly where to go for tram 28.
