Lisbon or Sintra?

Coming in to Lisbon on a cruise ship. Arrives at 8:00 am- departs at 5:00 p.m.-

Would you just stay in Lisbon and visit the sites there or go to Sintra for the day?

Or would you stay in Lisbon for a couple of hours and then go see Sintra?

For one day only, stay in Lisbon. There is plenty to see!

Sintra needs a full day.

If you insist touching both, it's best to arrange for a private tour.

Stay in Lisboa, buy the 24h ticket for public transports (6€+0,5€ for the support card) and you can do unlimited use of every public transport (bus, metro, tram or elevadores).

There is no easy answer to this, basically with the 6 hours you have to play with, select one or the other, trying to do both on your own steam is pushing the comfort zone a bit. Sintra is unique but because of this it can get intensely crowded especially if there are more than just one ship in dock on the day, more people equals more time to see the sights etc. With a day in Lisbon you can always find a little pocket of calm but of equal interest to the big must see sights. If you do try and do both remember to do the furthest away sights first on the day and keep the others closest to the ship for the last visits, that way you will not stress out about getting back to the pier on time.
