Pre- Booking tables for Restaurants

I've trawled through the Restaurant Reviews on Trip Advisor and I've pre-booked one because its quite apparent that its very popular.

However apart from this one firm booking we generally like to do what ever we fancy on the day.

We normally eat around 20:00hrs, as a rule is it fairly easy to get in most restaurants without booking at this time or do we just take a chance?

Don't really like to pre book if it can be avoided

Yes usually no problems apart from Forte where you would have to book at the start of your holiday especially on Saturdays of a festival.

Weekends tend to be busy and 8:00 is the busiest time, so I would recommend booking then, otherwise you may be disappointed.

We are in Madeira at the moment and have been here for three weeks. The first week was very quiet in the restaurants and there would have been no problem getting a table in most without pre-booking. This week though has been much busier with three of the restaurants we visited fully booked by 8pm.

Four of us arrived as a walk in at the Forte on Tuesday night about 8.30, we got the last outside table, but plenty of room inside. They were fully booked later in the week. So at a quiet time of year & early in the week there's probably no need to book.

Forte was a fantastic meal too - €39 concept menu was great value for money!

THE best is www.armazemdosal.com and very necessary to make a reservation, preferably in front of the singer.
