pestano porto santo resort food

Have looked at all of the comments about this hotel and one comment resonates that the food is often cold or luke warm. Could someone who has been there make a comment? Also what sort of menu is available in the Italian restaurant? And why is there a surcharge for the Mediterranean one as this is so "old hat " when pricing an all inclusive. The supplement looks about 17 euros per person so what in the menu makes this worthwhile and why don't the hotel and pestana group quote a sample menu(and yes we know it changes that's what sample means) THIS IS A TOUGH scene in terms of tourism and bookings so all the more information from this hotel would be much appreciated and as they are replying in this forum all well and good. This is an expensive choice from the UK so would like to get it right for all whowould like to visit.

Don't quite understand your request for "Could someone who has been there make a comment?" as the hotel reviews on TripAdvisor ARE comments by people who have been there and you have obviously read them!

You describe the supplement for one of the restaurants as so "old hat" in terms of all inclusive deals. In fact it's not unusual these days for all inclusive deals to have a specialist restaurant that is available only at a supplement - you'll also find this on a lot of cruise ships. I believe the choice is offered so people can have, shall we say, a quieter and more sophisticated fine dining experience than in the other busy general restaurants

We stayed at the Riu Palace Mexico in Playacar and they didnt charge for any of their speciality restaurants.Do agree with Mattjack this is now a tough time for tourism and you would think hotels would realise the competition out there.

I have just looked on the Thomson website and have seen the beach bar is chargeable. This makes for quite an expensive holiday.

I agree about extra charges as our most recent holiday in Barbados had no extra charges.

One worries that the restaurant which is chargeable is significantly better quality than the others.

Right. Is that the hotel website. Why does Thomson say the beach bar is chargeable then? Very confusing. The hotel website also doesnt state that the Mediterranean restaurant is payable-several reviews have said this is. If so, the hotel should NOT state this as their all-inc regime!
