Hi

Sao Martinho do Porto is not in (nor near) Porto city... it's south from Porto, near Leiria.

It's a decent place with good beaches nearby and its mostly visited by Portuguese people.

The area is really interesting with nice places to visit nearby such as Leiria, Nazaré, Alcobaça or Obidos.

Hi

We were on holidays there last year and loved it, so much so that we are planning on going out there in March to buy a property. There is loads to see, fabalous beaches. You must visit Peniche beach the body boarding is great. Also Foz de Alreho, the lagoon is wonderful. Obidos is a good day out and the kids enjoyed walking on the old city walls. Hope you enjoy the area we love it.

Hi

We have also bought a house in Sao Martinho do Porto and it will also be ready next year.

First went out to the area in November to house hunt and loved Sao Martinho. Went back out in January and are now in the process of buying off plan.

We visited Fod do Arelho which is also beautiful, had a drive around Caldas da Rainha and attended the Chocoalet Festival in Obidos. We are going back for a holiday in June and are looking forward to seeing more of the area.

Where abouts is your house being built? Ours is on a road behind the fire station - about 600 meters from the beach.

Thanks for reply . Thats great to hear some positive feedback.

Did you actually stay in Sao Martinho or what area?

We stayed in obidos and used that as a base to look at over 20 properties in various areas. Never got to Peniche!

We have used an agency called Top Casas - Nuno so if you decide to contact him please tell him I recommended him.

Hi ,

We bought from Nuno in a place called Serra Des Mangues. Did he show you?

It is about 2k down to the front but around the corner from Salgados beach. Development of 10 houses detached.

Isnt it great value when you think of what people are paying on the algarve.

A little anxious dont really know the area. We are going back down again in June staying in Praia Del REy and will tour around.

Would love to find about nice places to eat...

sao martinho do porto is fantastic and will certainly be one to watch as the area develops with the future airport and planned golf courses. The old hotel just behind the bay is apparently also due for a refit and will reopen. The elevator to the upper town is taking shape and the renovation to the promenade is almost complete. Property with front line sea views are the best investment considering building legislation.

Nearby in Nazaré (11km) an Irish company have bought some properties in the old town and they plan a hotel on the site. There are also plans for an extension to the marina on the green belt just behind the town centre (model in the public library).

Try afternoon tea in the hotel on the promenade, a very colonial style building that just breathes another era.

Sao Martinho has loads of good restaurants. Good fish and meat one at the end of the pier and just before it a good Italian. No chinese or Indian in Sao Martinho but there are two Chinese in Nazare. About 20 years behind in the dacor but the food was good and for about 27 euro for meal and wine it tasted even better. Bought a place on the head land near the cross in Sao Martinho and its more or less finished so looking forward to our first stay in it over Easter. Have not had a bad meal yet anywhere so unless your uber fussy where you go should be ok

Hi

we stayed just down the road from where Mijvar bought last year. Beautiful spot with great views. We are visting the area next week so we have taken on board all the advice yourself and others have given. I agree with you about the food. If you like fish this is a great area. Atlantico Restuarant are very good. My family still talk about the Sea Bass we got.

Looks like there is a lot of people interested in this area.
