Ponte Dom Luis, getting from upper to lower deck

We have been looking on various maps but cannot see if there is a way to walk down from the upper level, after getting off the metro at Jardim do Morro, down to the lower level of the bridge. Does anyone know if there is a way?

Thanks

JC

Apparently a cable-car was inaugurated this spring "Teleférico de Gaia" that connects the upper to the lower part of Gaia.

Yes, the teleférico is a great way to 'conquer' the difference in altitude.

Looks good - wonder if it will be included in the Andante ticket?

No, unfortunately.

I walked across the upper deck to the Gaia side then followed my nose down to river level using the twisty streets. After visiting the various quays I walked back across the lower level.

No, it's separate to the andante. Some friends went on it and I think they said it was expensive - 8€ return or something.

By contrast the funicular in Porto (funicular dos Guindais) is on the andante system. This brings from the base of the of th D. Luis bridge (Porto side) to Rua Augusta Rosa in the city centre.

It is possible to walk from upper to lower levels of the bridge in both cities, but it's complex, time consuming and can involve getting lost on back streets.

There is a street right from the funicular that goes down. Unfortunately there is constriction on it right now (resurfacing) so the walk is little bit tricky.

@ Cubscur ... I could have done that, too but not the other way round!
