I'm sure many of you regulars will recall ConnySir, probably one of the most informative and helpful contributors to the Forum and DE for Parga and Epirus. I had a really good e.mail chat with him yesterday and he and the lovely Mrs C are once again in Parga (well, Anthoussa) for their 3 month annual stay.
He says the weather is glorious at the moment, the prices seem ok and many places are opening earlier this year - most on the front are now open for business.
However, he says there has been a tremendous hike in prices in the ferries from Italy to Greece. Last year they paid 319 euros for the trip and this year it has risen to 708 euros ... ouch ....
Although Mr C is taking a sabbatical from TA, I do hope he will 'pop in' now and again to share his wealth of knowledge about the area and what is currently happening.
I've also received a letter from an accommodation owner in Sarakiniko (I won't mention the name as I don't want it to be misconstrued as advertising his business) and he says that due to the current economical situation he has reduced his room prices to 20 euros per night in June and September, 25 in July and 30 in August. If anyone wants further details please let me know.
