Greek Island suggestions for a group holiday in September

Hello everyone,

I am planning a group holiday in September and I would like to try Greece. Can anyone suggest a good island with great beaches, good restaurants and night life (not to many drunken brits), and with lots of activities like tours, water-sports, shopping etc.

I would appreciate hearing any great experiences you seasoned travelers have had. All suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi JAeD,

There are a vast number of Greek islands so we could do with some more information.

What age roughly are your group?

Do you want to fly direct or are you prepared to fly into Athens and then out to an island?

If you want to fly direct then are you prepared to get to any of the London Airports?

What sort of budget and for how long?

Have a look at some guide books such as Rough Guide to the Greek Islands and come up with some ideas to throw around.

Then you will get some good suggestions

Oh sorry, I should have been more detailed.

The average age of our group is 30 and we are willing to fly direct or via another location.

We have started off with £500 budget, but if the holiday looks like it will be worth it, we are very willing to increase that.

We are looking at holidaying for a week around the 16th September at the moment. So far, the places that stood out from my research are: Corfu, Crete, Santorini, and Skaithos. Again I am always willing to listen to suggestions.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Have a look at Zakynthos - many repeat visitors. I think you might struggle to get somewhere with watersports but without the Brits Abroad - the two tend to go hand-in-hand. You might need to prioritise what's most important to your group.

Consider Naxos - a lot of inexpensive places to stay, looks like good kite-surfing, interesting villages to explore, decent bars with both traditional and rock bands, and close enough for a day tour to Delos and Mykonos. And everyone there seems to drink in moderation.
