Rhodes bus fares

Returning to Rhodes this year and enjoyed cheap bus fares last year. Have heard that fares have risen significantly and that you have to now purchase bus tickets from your hotel. Can't understand how this works as not everyone catching buses stays in a hotel. Can anyone enlighten me in this matter?

Hi,

In may we just brought tickets from shop in Ialyasos & at the bus stop in Rhodes town. Think it was €2.10 each way for adults.

Fares were cheap we thought. Buses were regular.

So, shops as well as hotels sell the tickets? Last year, we'd to pay the driver when we got on in Ixia and then at the bus terminal in Rhodes town for the return journey. Is it correct that you no longer pay the bus driver?
