Public transport from airport

I will be in Athens in October and I was wondering the best option for getting from the airport to our hotel. There will be 4 people with luggage.

With 4 people you should take a taxi and split the cost which will be around 38/euros making it a bargain.

Bus is the cheapest with the Metro in the middle but you'll have to carry your luggage and other bags and either sit with them or put them on the luggage carrier.

In your case a taxi will be best and offers door-to-door service and no worry about pick pockets on the Metro.

Which hotel will you be going to? I think with 4 of you a taxi will be the better option. From 5am until midnight it costs 38 euro from the airport to the central zone. From midnight until 5am it costs 54 euro. Taxi takes around 45 minutes or so.

The metro will not be much cheaper than a taxi. Metro takes 40 minutes to Syndagma.

You also have the option of the airport express buses. The X95 goes to Syndagma. The fare is 6 euro each way per person. Bus trip is around an hour.

Yes, with four of you, a taxi will be your best option. The metro isn't really an option - unless:

a. If you are over 65, you are entitled to half price (upon production of passport)

b. If you are going to be in Athens for three days, you can buy a three-day ticket for €22, which will cover both airport journeys and all your additional use of the metro, so it's worth considering. Note though, that most of the sites, sights, and museums are in a walkable central area, so you may not use the metro much.

Best deal around is Welcome Pickup. They use vetted taxis/drivers and give you a discount on the airport trip (we paid 38 euros). We used them for local tours also. Check their website. (We are 🇱🇷 Who just happened to find them.)

€38 is not a discounted price, it’s the standard set fare for taxis from/to the airport & city centre.

I took the express bus and would not recommend it for a group with luggage. Hire a car.

Get a taxi. The price is fixed by the law about 38€ until before midnight and 54€ from 00:00 to 05:00. Before you get to taxi tell to the the taxi driver that you know that the fare for the ride is 38 and is standard by the law. You can also take the metro. the ticket with return costs 18€. But Obviously taxi is the best choice for 4 persons.

Definitely the taxii. 38 euros is fixed price from airport to the city centre and you will not need to worry about pickpockets in bus and metro. You can even use Beat app, which is like Uber.
