Welcome fellow NYer:-) You don't mention *when* you're travelling..pretty difficult to get those rates at a decent place in smack central Athens but take a look at www.artgalleryhotel.gr/ ...great little place that teeters on edge of Plaka..great area! Enjoy!

Hi Lucca222

you could also try Atalos Hotel. Cheaper than Art Gallery but probably not as nice.

Great location close to Monistiraki Metro station, clean and comfortable, but certainly not a 5 star hotel!

... and of course a great view of The Acropolis from it's roof top bar.

I’m not sure the Attalos is less expensive than the Art Gallery. When I was looking for a double in May the Art Gallery came in lower than the Attalos. (I loved the Art Gallery – thanks again, Litsa!)

The Phaedra Hotel in the Plaka is probably within your budget. I was quoted 70 Euros for a double in May. (E-mail: info@hotelphaedra.com)

One mystery solved: I stayed in May and apparently the high season starts in April at the Attalos and not until June 15 at the Art Gallery. Another mystery yet to solve: When I check the Attalos web site, a high season double is listed as 94 (still slightly cheaper than the Art Gallery). Do they have a higher rate for Canadians? :)

Thanks all! I just booked with Art Gallery. My girlfriend with whom I'm taking this trip is a manager at an art gallery so once I told her the name...do ya really think I had a choice... :)

Looks like a real nice hotel. 1 more month...!
