You won't have any problem. Last trip spent 6 days in Athens and didn't come across anyone who didn't speak english.

Hello!

The English Languge (together with French or German) is taught in the Greek schools for more than 40 years now. Before that, many kids were taught either English or French or both at home.

I doubt if you'll find more than 10 people in Athens who are younger than 75 years old and don't speak basic English and 10 people who are younger than 55 and don't have a Proficiency Diploma from Cambridge!

Wow! Good to know language won't be a problem here. In Spain it was a bit of a problem. Many people spoke some English, but it was minimal and in some cases unintelligible.

I agree with the ladies above...no problem with anyone not knowing basic english(and many will be much more proficient), but it will go a LONG way if you would know the very basics of the greek language...hello, good-bye, please, thank you, etc. Showing that you took enough interest to learn a few words in THEIR language will be appreciated! Have a wonderful trip.
