During the last years flights were never affected on May 1st.

I don't expect they will be so this year too.

This is not a typical strike day but Labour Day.

Pattern last years was that airport bus was operating + downtown subway too. So, last years airport bus was runnign but not all the way to the center. Bus passengers were forwarded to a metro station just outside the city ring to get to the center faster.

..exactly what we experienced a number of years back arriving on May 1st..only issue was the driver didn't inform anyone of the switch! Had we known the bus didn't run a full route, we would have opted for the metro from the start;-) Everyone on the bus was puzzled when the driver just pulled over and told everyone to just take the metro into Town! But from what tsopanos states, there won't be any metro at all this Sunday?! Unfortunately, it's not a good day for transport! Enjoy all~!

Indeed.

It's a day when, usually, a combination is used.

Metro is running but not all the way to the airport.

Airport bus is running but not all the way to the center.

So, both are combined:

Bus from airport to some metro station around city ring

Then metro to the center.

So, metro IS available. All three lines. Blue line though does not go all the way to the airport.

Metro won't be running though it may not be on strike.

Rail lines from Doukissis Plakentias to the airport are property and controlled by OSE workers.

OSE is on strike so metro can't use the rail lines.

<Metro won't be running though it may not be on strike.>

Tsopanos clarify please.

Metro IS running. No relative announcement has been made. All three lines are running on May 1st, Blue line ( airport line ) included. Nevertheless Blue line is running to a certain point where airport bus is available for the remaining portion.
