One night in Athens - make the most of it on a budget

Hi,

My gf and I are spending a Friday in athens before catching the ferry to santorini Saturday morning. We kind of blew our budget on santorini, so are looking for an affordable place to stay in Athens.

We'll arrive friday morning and spend the day looking at the sights - does anyone have any advice for where to stay? Blue Sky Hotel looks like it fits the bill, but just wanted to know if anyone had any other ideas or suggestions.

Tx

Depends whether you want to stay in central Athens & how you plan to get to the ferry for Santorini. Blue Sky is some way out in Glyfada & I have a booking there for next May - never stayed before but am going on the recommendation of friends & it certainly offers a nice location at a good price.

Have stayed at Hotel Myrto earlier this year & with a great city central position it was excellent - cheap & cheerful & would deffo stay there again.

I have one night at the Metropolis Hotel, since we're arriving on Weds and flying to Santorini on Thurs...it's located in the same vicinity as the Myrto...rate is about e70.

Great, thanks everyone. We just checked into hotel metropilis - now about to head out and explore!

We went to myrto but thet didn't have any space, but they did recomend metropilis!

So far, really friendly man at reception and it is a great location.
