Just arrived in Santorini after a short stay in Athens. I thought I should report back amid the turmoil in the city.
In summary, it had very little impact on our stay. When we arrived there was a subway and taxi strike but bus X95 was running fine and dropped us two blocks from our hotel. We then did all the usual sites by foot. Today there was no public transporation at all and no taxi but our hotel arranged for a car and driver (old VW) for 50 euros.
When we went to see the changing of the guard last night in front of the Parliament, there was no special ceremony due to the protests (we did not feel unsafe, the group of shouting protestes was rather small) bu they would let you take photos with the soldiers.
By the way, does anybody know why thee ae so many stray dogs there?
In summary, all was fine.
