Immigration/Customs: Enough Time?

I am traveling from the U.S. and have flights booked in two weeks into Athens and then straight into Thira.

I just realized that I may have not allowed enough time to clear customs/immigration. We land in Athens at 9:15 a.m. on a Wednesday and then our flight to Thira is scheduled for 11:45 a.m. Is this enough time or do I need to consider taking the later flight?

The next flight isn't until 17:15 and I hate to lose that whole day in the airport. But I certainly don't want to miss our flight all together. Thank you!

If your flight arrives in time you will be fine,it will take about 30-45 minutes for taxiing and clearing passport control (I very much doubt that anyone from customs will bother w/ you)so you will be ready for check in at around 10.00 which falls easily into the" 30 minutes before take off check in time" of Aegean & Olympic Airways ,if your flight is late the story changes though.....

If your flight into Athens arrives on time, you shouldn't have any problems. I usually reckon on 45 minutes from landing to picking up my bags, which should leave plenty of time to check in for the onward flight. Unlike UK and USA, immigration at Athens is fast and efficient. Of course, if the flight's late, then you're in trouble.

And it's only one flight of stairs or one floor in the lift between Arrivals and Departures.

The albums are best seen as slideshow, but the new layout from the album provider does not work properly when you click the icon. Put your cursor on the slideshow icon, click the mouse's right side and choose "Open". The slideshow will then start immediately.

You can check in online and print your boarding passes up to 48 hours before flight departure. Then, after picking up your bags from the carousel, go to the special baggage drop-off point for Aegean or Olympic. Your bags will be tagged and sent to the aircraft. That saves standing in line along with the people who haven't yet checked in.
